Let's say that I'm examining the personality type of BBC's Sherlock Holmes for my fictional typings. The character I am assigning a type here is a portrayal performed by Benedict Cumberbatch, of a character created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, reimagined by Steven Moffatt and Mark Gatiss and the rest of their writing staff, which means, of course, that the character seen on television is the result of many probably conflicting personalities trying to portray one person. While I find patterns in the BBC Sherlock's behavior that resemble my own understanding of personality types, the personality I am examining here is much more difficult to pin down with certainty. However, I am not doing this to once and for all settle any characters' types. I am doing it because I think it provides a more entertaining way to show people Jungian Typology in general.
